Monday, 11 May 2009

BELGRADE -- Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković announced that there will be investments made to technological development in Serbia.

“Serbia cannot allow a new brain drain,” Cvetković said at the opening of an IT conference organized by Serbia's leading retailer in the sector, ComTrade.

Cvetković told the gathering that despite the crisis, the government will continue to invest in information technologies in order to create conditions for professional development of young and educated persons.

“Serbia cannot allow an entire generation of educated people to leave and go to other countries because we did not create the environment that will motivate them to realize their talent in their own country,” Cvetković said at the opening of the five-day event.

Some 100 primary and high school students from Jagodina, Niš, Belgrade and Novi Sad, and several towns in Kosovo, are participating in the conference.

They will have the opportunity to learn about the latest computer software and compete for the best idea to creating new programs.
